American Legion Rider Qualifications:
Must be a Member in Good Standing w/ AL Post 416 Post, Auxiliary, or Sons of the American Legion/SALs
AL Rider status can only be given to those who are already registered members in good standing of either the Post (eligible US military veteran), or the Auxiliary (spouse or female relative or descendant of an eligible US military veteran), or the Sons of the American Legion/SALs (male relative or descendant of an eligible US military veteran). Membership applications and renewals can be handled either in person at AL Post 416 or online through https://legion.org (for Post and SALs memberships) and https://legion-aux.org (for Auxiliary memberships).
Be the Legally Registered Owner, or the Spouse of the Owner, of Registered Motorcycle/s
An AL Rider is expected to already be the legally registered owner or the spouse of the owner of the motorcycle/s they intend to use for AL Rider activities and events.
Have Valid Motorcycle License and Insurance
Without a valid motorcycle license and insurance on hand, an AL Rider will not be considered compliant with existing state laws mandating possession of these documents at all times while riding motorcycles.
Follow applicable motor vehicle laws at all times
AL Riders engage in wholesome and fun events such as holiday parades, motorcycle escorts for fallen comrades, and fund-raising for worthwhile causes, such as the nationwide annual American Legion Legacy Run to raise scholarship funds for children of US military personnel killed since Sept. 11, 2001. It is important that any AL Rider stay compliant with applicable laws at all times for safe and secure participation in any AL Rider event.
